Hello Friends,

How's everyone going? Last time I send out emails to you all is over a year. I was busying with freelance work. And now I finally have the motivation again to create some free learning resources.

I mentioned that it's very time consuming doing video editing, so I was once thought that doing tutorial is not what I can stand for. But that's before the AI era.

AI is so good right now, that once to be very advanced feature, now is so available even in beginner-friendly app.

Any way, I just wanna announce that I am back, and with some tips and tricks of our favorite design tool - Figma.

Here we go!

Create dithering effect in Figma

Most backgrounds feel flat. Here’s a fun way to make yours stand out using dithering effects in Figma.

Video Tutorial is linked blow.

1/ Use the Lummi plugin to find a background image you like. Drop it in your layout — we’ll add texture next.

2/ Open up the Dither plugin (or vga Dithercore for color).Play around with the settings.

  • Duplicate original image before you use Dither plugin, it will be replaced by default.

  • If using vga plugin, export in 960px for better resolution.

3/ Want to add color? Overlay a layer on top. Play around with different blend modes (Try Color Burn or Plus Darker ), and opacity to soften the effect.

4/ In short, vga gives you colorful textures. Dither gives crisp black & white patterns.

Follow the tutorial here.

That's it! If you find the content helpful, consider forwarding the email to your circle. Thank you and hope you all have a wonderful day.
